Melvin AC Howell
Originally born in the deep and impoverished country, in a small town in Morganton, North Carolina, Melvin made it his life's purpose
“To Change People’s Lives for the better.”
Melvin eventually moved to New Jersey in 2007 where he finished middle school and went on to complete his high school career. New Jersey was where he truly discovered his gift and purpose with dance. Continuing on to compete on international television show "So You Think You Can Dance", teaching, and performing all over New Jersey, NYC, NC, and California Melvin then discovered even more about his purpose with Dance. He discovered that he wasn't meant to dance to gain fame or numerous accolades, but was meant to change lives, provide love, support, and guidance where it was needed and overlooked.
Melvin then founded Heart & Soul Dance Company (Nonprofit) to create more transparent and "true to the art" platforms for artists to perform and gain exposure through. Through this journey Melvin noticed that there was a lack of understanding of the different styles of dance, especially Hip Hop and street Dance.
Moreover, Technique, history, and educational aspects were added to his mission. By understanding, you can relate, by relation there is ENDLESS VALUE, in terms of dance!
Dance is about finding yourself...in the music...in the world...in the silence...in everyday life. Movement is about gaining a true understanding of yourself and your situation by submerging yourself in honest and transparent vulnerability.
